A-Mei takes Ambulance to Concert

"But officer, it's an emergency."

Taiwanese pop diva Chang Hui-mei -- better known as A-mei -- will receive a police warning for taking an ambulance through jammed streets in Taipei to a New Year's Eve pop concert, an official said yesterday.

The Apple Daily newspaper reported that Chang's aides called an ambulance to rush her to the Taipei concert Saturday night from Taoyuan, about 30 kilometres south of the capital, where she had just finished another concert.

And of course, it isn't A-mei who will suffer:

Chang will be warned but not penalized. However, the ambulance operator may be fined for up to $30,000 (U.S.), the official said. AP
